gippsland branch

WHEN DID We start?

The Gippsland Branch of the Club was formed on Saturday, 4 February 2006 following a car display and public meeting in Morwell. Initially 10 individuals signed up for membership and the Branch has grown steadily since then.

The formation of the Branch, 10 years & 4 months after the foundation of the Melbourne Club, is a significant development in the evolution of the Club by expanding its membership and activities beyond the geographic limits of Melbourne and its suburbs.

MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES:

The Branch meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm sharp in the meeting room of the Top Pub in Morwell. Members usually have dinner at 6:00pm in the dining area of the pub and visitors and prospective new members are welcome to join us. You’ll know us by our burgundy polo shirts with the Club name printed in white.

Like the Melbourne Club the Branch activities are held at least once a month and are advertised in the run list section of this site as well as in our own quarterly Newsletter, The Lions Roar.

MEMBERS:

Members are scattered throughout a wide area of Gippsland including Boolarra, Callignee, Crib Point, Kooweerup, Mirboo, Morwell, Traralgon and Yarragon as well as some Melbourne based members.

ARE WE LIKE THE MELBOURNE CLUB?

The Branch is run similarly to the Melbourne Club having adopted the same mission statement, constitution, general rules, uniform and membership conditions and by also adhering to the Model Rules of an Incorporated Association. There are, of course, some variations to these thus reflecting the needs, circumstances and aspirations of Gippslanders.
